If your company is registered with HRD Corp (Human Resource Development Corporation, previously known as HRDF), you contribute a monthly levy that can be used to train your employees. HRD Corp claimable courses are training programmes approved by HRD Corp, so the cost can be covered from your levy instead of your operating budget. Here's how it works in practice.
How the process works
- Choose a programme from an HRD Corp registered training provider.
- Apply for a grant through HRD Corp's system before the training starts, and wait for approval.
- Attend the training. Trainees sign the attendance (T3) form each day.
- Claim after completion. The training provider submits the claim with the required documents.
Key rules worth knowing
- According to HRD Corp's Support Centre, training claims must be submitted within six (6) months after training completion.
- The T3 form is filled in by the training provider, and trainees sign it on a daily basis.
- The JD/14 form is completed by the training provider and submitted to the employer for declaration.
- HRD Corp states that claims and payments are processed within seven (7) working days.
Rules and forms can change, so always check the latest employer guidelines on HRD Corp's website or with your training provider before you apply.
Which training gives the fastest return?
Focus on skills your team can use the next working day. For most offices that means:
- AI & automation — using AI assistants safely for writing, research and repetitive tasks
- Microsoft 365 & Excel — faster reporting, collaboration in Teams and Outlook
- Digital marketing & web — social media, SEO basics and managing your website
- Cybersecurity awareness — spotting phishing and scams, protecting company data
- Data & dashboards — turning data into decisions
Choosing a training provider
- Confirm the provider is HRD Corp registered and the programme is claimable.
- Ask for a course outline with hands-on exercises based on your team's real work.
- Check that the content can be tailored to your industry and your staff's level.
